# How can my AI agent research competitor ads without accessing their ad accounts?

Research competitor ads with public ad-library tools in Agentik.

By [Agentik](/about.md). Updated: 2026-10-19.

Competitor ad research uses public advertising evidence rather than access to the competitor’s private account. Agentik provides supported public-ad tools that an agent can inspect and run through its existing connection. Define the brand, platforms and observation period, then distinguish visible creative and offer information from unavailable performance metrics.

## Separate public ads from private campaign reporting

Public libraries can support observations about creative, copy, landing pages and returned delivery dates. They do not automatically reveal the spend, conversions or ROAS of a commercial campaign. The exact fields and coverage depend on the tool and platform.

Your own campaign reporting is a separate authorized-account workflow. An agent should use the account connection and requested metric definitions for that job rather than present public ad observations as a substitute for private performance data.

## Resolve the brand and document collection coverage

A brand may advertise through several pages, names or regional entities. Record the matched advertiser and returned source links before summarizing the creative. If a brand is absent or processing is pending, report that state rather than equate it with no advertising activity.

Inspect pagination, freshness and asynchronous behavior. A small returned sample cannot establish every ad a brand has ever run. Keep the observation date and coverage limitations with the final brief.

## Use creative evidence for creative decisions

Group observed ads by offer, hook, format and landing-page promise with references to actual examples. Separate what the creative says from the agent’s hypothesis about why it was used. Duration can support a statement about observed longevity, not profitability.

When creating a new brief from the research, keep source observations separate from generated concepts. Ask for approval before generating assets, publishing ads or changing an owned account. Those are different tool operations and authorities.

## What you pay for

Supported paid tools use Agentik's prepaid workspace balance. Inspect the selected tool's pricing units and maximum before approving a run; a reservation can differ from its settled charge. Funding fees, taxes and your model's usage are separate. Current terms are on the Pricing and Billing pages linked below.

## Build an evidence-based competitor ad brief

For three named competitors, collect a bounded public-ad sample and inspect selected landing pages. No campaign performance is inferred from the sample.

Build an evidence-based competitor ad brief

| Output field | Acceptable evidence |
| --- | --- |
| Advertiser | Matched entity and public library URL. |
| Creative angle | Specific copy or visual observation with ad reference. |
| Offer | Visible proposition and landing-page source. |
| Performance | Not available unless an authorized source explicitly supplies it. |

## A prompt to try

[Connect your agent](/docs/clients.md), then use this prompt with your connected assistant. Keep credentials in the authorized connection.

```text
Research public ads for [brands] on [platforms] for [period]. Discover Agentik ad-library tools and inspect_tool for advertiser matching, pagination, freshness, async states and price. Quote a bounded sample first.
After approval, return source-linked creative observations, offers and coverage gaps. Distinguish no returned ads from confirmed absence. Do not infer spend, sales or ROAS from longevity or public creative data.
```

## A related workflow

[Competitor ad research](/competitor-ad-research.md). Their longest-running Meta and Google ads, why they work, where they send people, and how those offers changed.

Example tool-call maximum: at most $0.64.

3 competitors, 20 active ads each, 15 ads broken down, 6 landing pages read today and six months ago.

This catalog-based reservation maximum belongs to the playbook’s inputs, separately from this guide’s worked example. It is not an executed charge. Optional calls, funding fees, taxes and model usage are excluded.

## Questions

### Can I see competitors’ ROAS through a public ad library?

Do not assume so. Use only metrics explicitly supplied by an authorized source; creative visibility and duration are not evidence of profitability.

### Does an absent advertiser result mean there are no ads?

No. Matching, coverage, freshness or pending processing can explain an empty result. Report the tool’s actual state.
