# Agentik vs Smithery

Smithery connects agents to thousands of MCP servers. Agentik brings paid data without keys.

Agentik wrote this comparison from Smithery's public pages (smithery.ai), read on 10 October 2026. Agentik is not affiliated with Smithery. Corrections: info@agentik.cc.

## Which one fits

- Choose Smithery if your agent needs a particular MCP server from a public registry of thousands, with sign-in and credentials handled for you, or if you publish your own server and want distribution and usage data.
- Choose Agentik if your agent needs paid data and media (SEO, social media, ad libraries, contacts, images and video) from one catalog with no key at each provider, each call priced before it runs and billed from one prepaid balance.

## Side by side

Read on 10 October 2026. "Not published" means the pages we read say nothing about it, not that Smithery lacks it. Agentik's column comes from its catalog of 10 October 2026 and its pricing.

## Where Smithery is the better choice

- **Thousands of servers in one registry.** Smithery lists 25,987+ MCP servers, from web search and documentation to databases and business tools, and connects your agent to any of them.
- **Publish your own server.** Server makers publish once to reach AI agents, with built-in auth and data on how their tools are used.
- **Sign-in handled for each service.** Smithery runs OAuth flows with its own OAuth apps for popular integrations, injects credentials and retries, and keeps credentials in agent.pw, an open-source vault.
- **A free plan to start.** The Hobby plan includes 50,000 RPCs a month and managed OAuth at no cost.

## Where Agentik is different

- **No account at each provider.** For public data and AI models, Agentik holds the provider accounts: your agent uses 2,287 tools from 52 providers with one balance, no key or plan at any of them.
- **One catalog, one bill.** Agentik bills each call from one prepaid balance at the provider’s price, with 0% markup on tool calls. On a registry, a server can need its own API key or carry its own plan.
- **A price before every call.** Your agent reads each tool’s price and quotes the call before it runs. Most tools reserve a guaranteed maximum; tools billed at actual cost say so.
- **Caps on each key.** Keys can carry hourly, daily, lifetime or per-tool spending caps. A capped key cannot run a tool billed at actual cost.
- **Ad research with an analysis of each ad.** Adspy’s 17 tools search Meta and Google ads and analyse each one, from the same balance as every other tool.

## Using both

Smithery helps your agent find and connect MCP servers; Agentik brings paid data and media on one balance. Both work over MCP. Add both to the same client, and your agent picks the tool it needs.

## Questions

### Is Agentik an alternative to Smithery?

For paid data and media, yes. Agentik serves 2,287 tools from 52 providers on one prepaid balance, with no key at each provider. To find a community MCP server, or to publish your own, Smithery’s registry of 25,987+ servers is built for that.

### Is Smithery part of Arcade.dev?

Yes. Arcade.dev announced on 5 August 2026 that it had acquired Smithery, and Smithery’s site now says it is part of Arcade.dev.

### Do I need my own API keys?

On Smithery, some servers need your own API keys, which it stores encrypted and write-only, and others use a sign-in it handles. On Agentik, public data and AI models need no key, because Agentik holds the provider accounts. Its ad and analytics tools use your own accounts, connected once per workspace.

### How do the two bill?

Smithery’s Hobby plan is free up to 50,000 RPCs a month; Pay as you go is $10 a month in credit, then $0.10 per 1,000 RPCs, and some servers bill for their own service. Agentik bills each call at the provider’s price from a prepaid balance, with 0% markup on tool calls; top-ups carry 5.5%, minimum $0.80.
