# OpenIBAN IBAN validation

Validate an IBAN (checksum, length and country format) with OpenIBAN and, where it holds bank data. Needs iban.

Validate an IBAN (checksum, length and country format) with OpenIBAN and, where it holds bank data (German, Austrian, Dutch, Belgian, Luxembourg, Swiss and Liechtenstein accounts), return the bank name, BIC and sometimes the city. That bank data dates from about 2018: a missing bank or BIC says nothing about the account. check_bank_code also fails IBANs whose bank code is not in that data, which can reject real accounts. Pass the IBAN without spaces. OpenIBAN states that no personal data is stored.

## Execute and retrieve

Inspect again before execution, explain the price and obtain the required authority. Use MCP run_tool or POST /v1/run with this tool ID, valid input and an idempotency key. Save the returned run ID and follow the actual state. If Agentik answers that the tool is temporarily unavailable, do not retry it blindly; use discovery to propose an alternative.
