Check a UK supplier before you sign
A UK company's registry status, directors, owners, filings, charges and insolvency record, read beside its LEI and recent press.
Steps
A supplier check reads what the company has filed before it reads what anyone says about it. Companies House gives the status, directors, owners, accounts, charges and insolvency record, GLEIF confirms the legal entity where it holds an LEI, and Tavily finds recent press.
Before this job
- The tools must be available in your connected Agentik catalog. Ask for the missing provider configuration if a tool is unavailable.
Step 1: Resolve the legal entity
Trading names often differ from registered names. Keep the company number and reuse it for every later call.
Step 2: Read status, people and owners
Note the status, the accounts and confirmation dates, any overdue flag and recent appointments. An empty owner list is normal for a listed company.
Step 3: Read filings, charges and insolvency
Outstanding charges show who is secured ahead of other creditors. A 404 from the insolvency record means no case is on file.
Step 4: Read recent press
Keep each article's date and separate reporting from the company's own statements.

Each provider does one part
No single provider covers this job. Your agent calls each one for its part, from one connection.
Good to know
- Filed accounts can be more than a year old, and small companies file shortened accounts.
- A clean record removes known flags. It does not prove the supplier can deliver.
When to use something else
For credit scores and payment behaviour across a whole supplier base, use a commercial credit bureau. This playbook prepares a one-off check from public records.
Questions
What does the example cost?
At most $0.008 for the illustrated calls. The official records are free through Agentik, and the paid calls are the press, maps or email steps.
Does the result cover every source?
No. Public records have publication lags and search results can be incomplete. Keep the collection date, sample size and missing evidence visible.
Does this send messages or change an account?
No. These steps read public records and prepare a brief. Sending a message or changing an account requires a separate instruction.
