Can I use one credit balance for all my AI agent tools?

Follow the cost from the proposed operation to its settled receipt.

By Agentik · Updated

Agentik centralizes supported tool spending in a prepaid workspace balance. Instead of funding a different account for each provider, you authorize calls against that balance and follow each run's reservation and charge. Separate keys can identify agents and carry optional spending caps. Your model costs and any direct-provider accounts remain separate.

A reservation is not the final charge

An agent should inspect the pricing before execution and distinguish the most an operation can reserve from what it ultimately consumed. An unused reservation returns to available credit when released; it is not another payment.

Billing lifecycle, not an executed customer receipt
StageWhat it means
QuoteThe tool's pricing contract and the proposed inputs define the expected usage or reservation.
ReserveCredit is held before dispatch when the operation supports a bounded reservation.
SettleConsumed provider usage is charged and unused reserved credit is released.
ReconcileA pending or uncertain operation must be followed using its existing run identity.

Read costs alongside execution state

A useful usage review keeps the run ID, tool, status, latency and charge together. Check whether the run completed, remains pending or produced a partial result before judging its cost. Agentik's run history records execution and billing metadata, not a replacement archive of your input and output contents.

If the client loses its connection after dispatch, retrieve the run instead of assuming the operation was free or never started. Provider usage may already have been consumed.

Share credit while keeping agent access separate

Use separate execution keys for different agents so their permissions and optional caps can differ. The workspace balance is shared; a key is not a separate bank account or a customer billing balance.

This approach can avoid scattering new deposits across providers. It does not transfer existing provider credit, cancel subscriptions or combine your model-provider invoice with Agentik spending. Confirm any invoice and tax requirements in the payment flow.

What you pay for

Agentik uses a prepaid workspace balance. Supported provider tools are billed for measured usage at the provider price, with no markup on tool calls. Funding the balance can carry a separate platform fee.

The published standard top-up fee is 5.5%, with a minimum of $0.80. The fee is added to the requested credit. The minimum top-up is $5.00. Check the Pricing page for any first-top-up waiver and the payment screen for the applicable fee and tax.

A call can reserve its maximum before dispatch, settle what it consumed and release the unused part. A partial result or an interrupted connection can still have consumed provider resources. Follow the existing run and its receipt rather than starting another paid call.

Your assistant or model provider bills its own usage separately. Existing credits at another provider are not transferred into Agentik. Connecting your own private accounts can require their own permissions or plans.

Reconcile available, reserved and settled credit

Illustrative arithmetic only: a workspace starts with $10 of available credit and reserves $2 for a job. Available credit becomes $8 while $2 is held. If that job settles at $1.20, $0.80 is released and the workspace has $8.80 available.

These numbers are not provider prices or a customer receipt. Funding fees and taxes are outside this example. When a run is uncertain, inspect its state before treating the reservation as released.

Give this to your agent

Help me reconcile Agentik tool spending for [workspace and period]. Use only usage records I authorize you to access; ask for missing records. Group by agent key, provider, tool and run state. Distinguish quoted maxima, active reservations, settled charges and released amounts. Flag uncertain runs without starting replacements. Keep top-up payments, platform fees, tax and model bills separate. Do not infer a refund or completed job from an HTTP response.

Your agent should inspect the tools and ask for missing inputs before proposing any paid work.

This catalog-based reservation maximum belongs to the playbook’s inputs, separately from this guide’s worked example. It is not an executed charge. Optional calls, funding fees, taxes and model usage are excluded.

Questions

Can I use one credit balance for all the tools my agent needs?

Supported Agentik tools charge against the workspace's prepaid balance. Tools outside that catalog and your reasoning model can have separate access and billing.

How can I avoid unused credits in several provider accounts?

Use shared Agentik credit for future supported operations instead of making another upstream deposit. Credits already held by another provider remain subject to that provider's terms.

Are failed or interrupted calls always free?

No. The charge follows consumed provider usage and the tool's settlement contract. Partial or uncertain outcomes can be billable or retain a reservation until reconciliation. Check the actual run.

Do I get an unexpected subscription bill?

Agentik tool access uses prepaid credit rather than a monthly Agentik plan. Funding fees, taxes, direct-provider agreements and assistant subscriptions are separate costs to review.
