Where can I get pay-as-you-go tools for my AI agents?
Use supported APIs for a task without a monthly Agentik plan.
By Agentik · Updated
Pay-as-you-go agent tools charge for the operations your agent uses rather than a monthly Agentik subscription. You add prepaid credit, inspect each tool's pricing and spend from the same balance across supported providers. This can suit occasional research or creative tasks, but the right choice depends on usage units, funding fees and what a direct provider plan includes.

Buy the operation your task needs
An agent may need a list of keywords this week and an email check next month. Paying for those operations from a shared balance avoids choosing several recurring plans just to complete those tasks. You still pay for the actual data, generation or other resources used.
A provider may bill by call, result, image, second, page or measured usage. Check that unit before multiplying a listed price by your workload. A single agent request can trigger several paid tool calls.
Choose by your workload
These are decision criteria, not a savings forecast. Compare equivalent outputs and include features you would otherwise need to build.
| Usage pattern | What to compare |
|---|---|
| One-off task | The complete task cost, any minimum deposit and the remaining useful balance. |
| Regular mixed tasks | Total calls across providers, funding frequency and the cost of maintaining integrations. |
| High volume at one provider | Direct volume rates, included usage, service terms and required features. |
Try one complete job first
Choose an input you already need to work on, such as a product page. Ask the agent to read the page, inspect advertising examples and propose a set of visuals. Review the tools and their maximum reservation before approving the job.
Afterward, compare the deliverable and the settled charges with your requirements. A demonstration you can inspect is more useful than a monthly-equivalent number based on unrelated products.
What you pay for
Agentik uses a prepaid workspace balance. Supported provider tools are billed for measured usage at the provider price, with no markup on tool calls. Funding the balance can carry a separate platform fee.
The published standard top-up fee is 5.5%, with a minimum of $0.80. The fee is added to the requested credit. The minimum top-up is $5.00. Check the Pricing page for any first-top-up waiver and the payment screen for the applicable fee and tax.
A call can reserve its maximum before dispatch, settle what it consumed and release the unused part. A partial result or an interrupted connection can still have consumed provider resources. Follow the existing run and its receipt rather than starting another paid call.
Your assistant or model provider bills its own usage separately. Existing credits at another provider are not transferred into Agentik. Connecting your own private accounts can require their own permissions or plans.
Estimate an occasional research job
Suppose a team needs a competitor brief only when a new prospect arrives. Separate the cost of that job from the fixed cost of keeping several provider subscriptions. Count the search, page-reading and enrichment operations actually needed; use each inspected pricing unit rather than multiplying a headline rate by every step.
This is a purchasing worksheet, not a receipt or a savings claim. A direct plan can be preferable at steady volume or when it includes capabilities unavailable through Agentik.
| Worksheet item | Input to collect |
|---|---|
| Frequency | Expected jobs in a month, including busy periods. |
| Usage per job | Calls, returned records, pages, seconds or characters. |
| Other costs | Funding fees, model usage, tax and any remaining subscriptions. |
| Decision | Compare equivalent deliverables and access requirements. |

Give this to your agent
Estimate a pay-as-you-go tool stack for [occasional task] at [jobs per month]. Discover suitable Agentik tools and inspect_tool for each exact operation. Ask for missing scope before calculating. Show pricing units, a bounded job maximum where available, optional steps, funding fees to check and separate model costs. Compare this with the direct plans I provide without assuming a discount. Return the worksheet and wait for approval before paid execution.
Your agent should inspect the tools and ask for missing inputs before proposing any paid work.
A related workflow
Your product page for the copy, your category’s longest-running ads as the brief, then new scenes, headlines and a clip.
One product, 20 category ads studied and 5 broken down, 4 scenes, 2 headline images, one 5-second clip.
This catalog-based reservation maximum belongs to the playbook’s inputs, separately from this guide’s worked example. It is not an executed charge. Optional calls, funding fees, taxes and model usage are excluded.

Questions
How can I stop paying monthly fees for tools my agent uses occasionally?
For capabilities available through Agentik, you can use prepaid, measured tool calls instead of a monthly Agentik plan. Check your existing subscriptions before canceling them: their dashboards, automation and other features may serve different needs.
Can I test different tools without committing to subscriptions?
You can inspect available tools publicly and execute supported calls through an authorized workspace. Paid calls need usable credit; any trial credit depends on the account's eligibility and restrictions.
Does pay as you go mean free access?
No. Some tools have a zero price, while paid tools consume credit according to their pricing. A top-up can also carry a platform fee.
Is pay per use always cheaper?
No. A direct subscription or volume agreement may be more economical for steady workloads or include features you need. Compare equivalent usage, outputs and all applicable fees.
