An agent can use a page-reading tool to turn a known URL into content it can analyze. For structured extraction, define the fields and missing-value rules before the call. Use search to find pages and scraping to read them
If the agent does not know which page contains the answer, start with search. Once it has a suitable URL, inspect a page-reading operation such as firecrawl/scrape. Reading a product page does not imply that every linked page, review or dynamic widget has also been collected.
The Agentik tool contract is the supported surface. A provider may advertise browser interaction or additional extraction modes that are absent from this particular tool. Check accepted URLs, available options and the returned format before planning the workflow.
Define a small extraction contract
For pricing research, request plan name, amount, currency, billing period, unit and source passage as separate fields. A number without its billing period can turn a monthly price into a misleading annual comparison. Preserve “not shown” instead of filling gaps with a plausible value.
Validate each record against the page text. A structured-looking response can still reflect navigation, a stale banner or a price for another product. Keep the relevant section or quotation reference with the normalized field so a reviewer can inspect it.
Treat inaccessible content as a coverage gap
Some pages require authentication, reject automated access or render content the selected endpoint cannot read. Report the exact failure and inspect an authorized alternative when needed. Do not promise that an agent can scrape every website.
Public page extraction and private-account access are different operations. Use supported account authorization for private sources, keep credentials out of prompts and avoid sending unrelated private content into the extraction request.

Is scraping the same as browser automation?
Page reading extracts content from URLs. Browser automation can navigate an interactive flow. Inspect the exact capability rather than assuming one endpoint supports both.
Can the agent extract a field that is absent from the page?
It can report the gap or propose another source. It should not present an inferred value as extracted evidence.
